I have several travel mugs that I often fill with coffee and take with me in the car. The problem is that the cups quickly absorbed the taste of the coffee. Now if I put any other beverage, like tea, in the mugs all I can taste is stale coffee. I do wash my dishes very well with soap and water, so that is not the problem. It is just that the coffee is so strong I guess? Anyway, Can anyone please tell me how to remove this stale coffee taste from my travel mug?How do you remove the coffee taste from a travel mug?Use some baking soda and vinegar - it will make a "volcano" effect first. I'm a soon to be first time mum and I live on a small Caribbean island where my car gets scorching hot during the day time.

I have looked at many car seats/travel systems and I am completely lost as to which will suit our climate; most of the seat are made of a sort of polyester, microfiber or plastic.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'd find a system that you like and get a linen cover for it to keep the surface cool. There are also reflective sunshades for cars seats that you can drape over it when you're parked (like the shades that go in the windshield).



Ask around in your neighborhood, too. Maybe another mom found the perfect solution already and will share her ideas.

It’s taken a group of scientists from the Consumer Reports National Research Center to tell you what you already know about your teenager: s(he)’s not that interested in your advice. Even more breaking news—while teens can identify and acknowledge dangerous behaviors behind the wheel, they (you guessed it) take risks anyway!

The study surveyed drivers between the ages of 16 and 21 and found that, although teens overwhelming acknowledge the dangers of distracted driving, 29 percent admitted to texting and driving in the past month and a whopping 47 percent admitted to using a cell phone without a hands-free device during that period.
I find it suspicious that these same teens reported much higher rates of distracted driving among their peers. “Eighty-four percent saw other young people talking on a handheld phone, more than 70 percent witnessed texting, and about a third saw peers using apps, e-mail, or social media behind the wheel,” writes Consumer Reports. In other words, it’s the same old excuse: “Everybody’s doing it.”
As a mother of two teens, I’ve heard it before. But it’s time that we adults grew up too!!! Just under half of these same teens reported seeing Mom or Dad chatting on a handheld phone, while 15 percent caught them texting and driving. Way to set an example, people! Obviously, many parents respond to “everybody’s doing it,” with, “do as I say, not as I do.”
It’s no surprise that teens rated urging from family members as one of the least likely ways to make them stop driving distracted. Positive peer pressure and media campaigns have been much more successful.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, incidents of texting while driving peak between the ages of 18 and 20, then decrease sharply as drivers hit 25. But don’t count on your teen making it safely through those high-risk years. Traffic deaths are still the leading cause of death for teens. Treat distracted driving as seriously as you do underage drinking, drugs, smoking, and unprotected sex!

LEGENDARY ENTREPRENEUR CARROLL SHELBY PASSES AWAY
LOS ANGELES– May 11, 2012 – Carroll Shelby International, Inc., (OTC: CSBI.PK) announced today that Carroll Hall Shelby, a man whose vision for performance transformed the automobile industry, has died at age 89.   Mr. Shelby passed away yesterday at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. The cause of death was not disclosed.

 Born on Jan. 11, 1923, Carroll Shelby was one of America’s greatest success stories.  Championship-winning racecar driver, “flying sergeant” wartime pilot, philanthropist, entrepreneur, car manufacturer and racing team owner, he embodied the ingenuity, tenacity and grit to overcome any obstacle.  He is perhaps the only person to have worked at a visible level with all three major American automobile manufacturers.

Carroll Shelby founded Carroll Shelby International, a publicly held corporation involved in many industries.  His licensing arm has agreements with industry giants, such as Mattel, Sony, Ford Motor Company and Electronic Arts.  His car company, Shelby American, has a thriving parts business as well as a line of muscle cars including the Shelby GT500 Super Snake, Shelby GT350 and Shelby GTS.  The Las Vegas-based company also manufactures a limited number of the 1960s Shelby 289 “street,” 289 FIA, 427 S/C and Daytona Coupe Cobras. Shelby considered his greatest achievement to be the establishment of the Carroll Shelby Foundation™.  Created in 1992 while Shelby was waiting for a heart transplant, the charity is dedicated to providing medical assistance for those in need, including children, educational opportunities for young people through automotive and other training programs and benefitting the Carroll Shelby Automotive Foundation. Shelby remained active in the management of each of his companies and the Foundation until his death, even though he endured both heart and kidney transplants in the last two decades of his life.   “We are all deeply saddened, and feel a tremendous sense of loss for Carroll’s family, ourselves and the entire automotive industry,” said Joe Conway, president of Carroll Shelby International, Inc. and board member.  “There has been no one like Carroll Shelby and never will be.  However, we promised Carroll we would carry on, and he put the team, the products and the vision in place to do just that.”

Shelby is survived by his three children Patrick, Michael and Sharon, his sister Anne Shelby Ellison of Fort Worth and his wife Cleo.  Funeral plans are not currently available.  Donations to the Carroll Shelby Foundation are encouraged in lieu of flowers.  Information about the Carroll Shelby Foundation is available at www.carrollshelbyfoundation.org.
