It is about 4 miles long.

Most people spend 2 days at this destination and take delivery of over 600+ VW’s per day- to owners in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

In June 2000, Volkswagen opened the Autostadt to the public - an entire city of cars built alongside the Volkswagen HQ in Wolfsburg. The huge complex features pavilions, waterways, bridges, lakes, parks, marketplaces, a train station, streets and lanes, entertainment, 11 organic world restaurants, and a unique competition and events center. Guests from all around the world are able to go on a fascinating journey of discovery in this world forum dedicated to the automobile.

The two towers are connected to the Volkswagen factory by an underground tunnel. When they purchase a car from Volkswagen, it is optional to pick it up at Autostadt which includes free entrance, meal tickets and a variety of events building up to the point where the customer takes delivery of their car.

Experience cars, sustainability -- walk through the large glass revolving doors to main entrance, which is heated & cooled by sunlight only.

There are NO VW logos or car information in the main building. The big Globe of is aluminum over 80 glass globes as art and information in the floor that shouldn’t be missed.

The car design studio has clay modeling to show how they are used and show designs and why they are important. There's more to design than just surface.

Off to "the green level" which covers sustainability on CO2, effects of climate change, and all interactive with touch screens and multi-lingual.

Then Zeithaus or museum of cars with cars of all brands that made history including a Ford Model T. The Volkswagen auto museum presents vintage Volkswagens and other cars in their former glory and offers insights into the first historic years of the 20th century's most influential technology. These cars are all turning points in the automotive world.

The museum presents prototypes and concept cars, which are placed in glass cases outside where unique and special cars are a trip to heaven.

The Marque Pavilions show the many faces of Volkswagen: famous brands like Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche and Lamborghini. Each pavilion is a world in its own dedicated to that brand. The clubhouse is quite special as it has just one ultimate luxury car Bugatti Veyron and 2 pieces of art.

In summer months there’s the Cool summer island- summer sandy beach and music, boat rides and when Germany gets colder there’s a Christmas market in the winter and fall.

Here are some online auto parts statistics that may surprise you:
• A car or motorcycle helmet is purchased online every 90 seconds

• An auto part or auto accessory is bought every second

• A brake part is bought every 60 seconds

• A car speaker sells every 8 minutes

• More than 26 million parts are available at any given time on eBay Motors

These tips will help you make the right choices when shopping for auto parts:

• No matter how handy you think you are or how much you know about cars, don’t make a diagnosis without checking with a qualified mechanic first.

• Contact the online seller and confirm the part numbers. Do this even if they have the car parts listed.

• If you receive car parts that look incorrect, do not install them. If you do, you may not be able to exchange them. Contact the seller immediately.

• Unless the buyer is very reputable, make sure you only buy online car parts that include photos of the actual part on the advertisement. That way you know what to expect when you receive them.

• Remember, there are various levels of quality when buying car parts online. While it’s preferable to replace your car parts with genuine parts, many aftermarket brands are built to OEM quality standards and will suit your application just fine.

There are many websites to consider when purchasing online. With the ever-increasing availability of online choices, be sure to shop around locally as well.

THE CAR COACH REPORTS: Feb. 1, 2013
Toyota On Top Edition
So it looks like Toyota is once again the world’s largest automaker.  Years of recalls, wrongful death suits, the Japanese tsunami, and lackluster designs can’t stop the manufacturer from producing and selling the most cars anywhere and everywhere: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323375204578269181060493750.html
Moreover, in addition to being the largest automaker again, Toyota has done a remarkable job of making the public believe it’s the best.  According to a Consumer Reports study that ran in Automotive News, Toyota was ranked #1 based on “quality, safety, value, performance, design, technology and green attributes.”  The story also said the first two categories were the most important to buyers.
I’m confused.  Isn’t this the same company that recently had dozens of safety recalls?  In fact, Toyota just announced its third recall since October affecting more than 1 million cars: http://www.nydailynews.com/autos/faulty-airbags-force-massive-toyota-recall-article-1.1252032
So what gives?  How can Car Company be perceived as the safest when it recently has had arguably the most recalls and related driver fatalities on its hands?  How can the driving public think for a moment that Toyota ranks highest in quality when their cars were recently catching fire and setting off airbags, not to mention unintentionally accelerating just a few years ago?

All I can say is that Toyota must have the best marketing and PR folks in the business.

My Final Thought:

The Feds are at it again.  They want to put more bio junk in your gas tank: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/01/31/despite-court-ruling-epa-raises-biofuel-estimate/
Really EPA?  The only organic material I want to add to anyone’s gas tank is sugar, and I’d like to pour it in all your cars for being so unrealistic.
On second thought, that’s probably a bad idea.  We would get stuck with the bill to fix it.
Love your car!  See you next week!

2013 Cadillac XTS: Expert Car Review by Lauren Fix

The 2013 Cadillac XTS is a full-size luxury sedan with modern, impressive technology. Take a closer look with Lauren Fix, The Car Coach.

Model - 2013 Cadillac XTS
MPG - Combined 20 mpg.
Engine - 3.6L V6 engine with 300 hp. Riding on standard 19" wheels with optional 20" wheels.
Price - starts at $60,385
Test Vehicle - $64,695, which included the Driver Assist Package ($2395) and Crystal Red Tintcoat paint ($995).

The advanced all-wheel drive system of the 2013 Cadillac XTS handls very well in deep snow. Combined with the standard magnetic ride control, it offered a very comfortable ride on my six-hour test drive. The XTS offers heated seats and a heated steering wheel, as well as air-cooled seats for warmer days.

Every XTS comes with CUE (Cadillac User Experience), the brand's new multimedia system with navigation, audio controls and connectivity. CUE is housed in the dashboard and center control panel. The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is very user-friendly and is best with the Heads-Up display unit.

The short and long-range radar systems offered in the driver assist package support advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, safety alert seat (which vibrates the driver's seat), and automatic front and rear braking to avoid a collision.

Competes with:

Audi A6
BMW 5 Series
Mercedes E350
Lincoln MKS
Volvo S80

Likes:

New style and design
Powerful engine
Comfortable ride quality
Great sound system
CUE technology and connectivity system

Dislikes:

It's a large car, making it hard to park in urban areas.
I wish it offered self-parking, although the driver assistance package makes the
job easier than expected.

The all-new 2013 Cadillac XTS offers premium styling, comfort on the road and has a state-of-the-art multimedia system that's easy to use.

Remember, when shopping for a new car, test drive as many vehicles as you can in the class you are looking in, to make sure you find the car that is best for you.

Ok, so I had some great vintage skinny ties on hand, I had my son go through them to see which he would use and wanted to keep, and which he might want to pass along.  He said, "Why don't we sell the ties I don't keep, on Etsy". A perfect idea. We decided to do it to generate a little money for his savings account, so I said, "Maybe you can model for the photos and I will put the proceeds in YOUR account".
He was delighted about that...
SO
Here is the result of our photo shoot...

I only shot 5 photos per item and in my opinion he was a "natural" as a knit hat wearing, mustache growing, longer haired ETSY kind of guy!  (Too bad he was not standing by a brick wall... that would have been even more perfect!)           So happy he helped me ...NOW I hope each and every tie sells.(If possible, click and fav if you are an etsian, so others can see the ties and perhaps purchase them!  The boy wants to grow his savings account, he asks me daily how we are doing.  I don't want to let him down :)                       Thanks in advance for sharing his tie listings with your circles and friends!           hugs,                 martha

THE CAR COACH REPORTS: WEEK IN REVIEW 12-21-12
The Feds Make Us Pay Edition
GM is buying back $5.5 billion in stock from the U.S. Treasury.  Hooray, no more Government Motors!  In fact, GM plans on untangling itself from the feds completely over the next year or so:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324461604578189071250022486.html
This is great news for GM.  They will no longer have the stigma of being controlled by the government, their executives will get pay raises and fly private jets again, and their sales could possibly increase because conservative car buyers will feel better that the company is once again sovereign.
We can now all rejoice over the fact that GM was able to emerge victorious from its darkest days just a few years ago.
Wait, I’m not so sure we should be rejoicing.  There’s the pesky little matter that taxpayer dollars were used to bailout GM and the fact that the company is buying back the shares at roughly half the value of what the feds paid.  All told, more than $20 billion will be lost at the taxpayers’ expense.
I am NOT okay with this but none of us have a choice.  Does this seem right to you?
Speaking of not being okay, the fiscal cliff is looming and there doesn’t seem to be a solution in sight.  Should we go over this cliff, we will experience the largest tax hike in American history and are likely to see another recession a la 2008-2009.
This means banks will once again restrict lending and the auto industry could go back into the doldrums.  My advice for potential car buyers is to buy that car now.  Don’t wait until after January 1—you may not get a loan.  There are lots of end-of-the-year deals to be had, so take advantage of them.

What are your thoughts?

My Final Thought:
I’m going to break from tradition here and end this blog entry by saying that I truly hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, a merry Christmas, and a stupendous New Year!

Love your car!  See you in 2013!

2013 Audi RS5: Expert Car Review by Lauren Fix

To contact us Click HERE

The 2013 Audi RS5 is an exclusive, high performance coupe with style, technology, exhilarating acceleration and precision handling. Lauren Fix, the Car Coach, takes a closer look.

Model - 2013 Audi RS5
MPG - 16/23 mpg.
Engine - 4.2L V8 450 hp riding on 19"
rims or upgrade to 20” aluminum alloy
wheels and summer Pirelli tires.
Transmission - 7 speed S-Tronic double clutch transmission
Performance: 0-60 4.5 sec., 174mph top speed for the track.
Price - starts at $68,900, our test vehicle was $77,920 in Panther Black with the Titanium package.

The 2013 Audi RS5 is different from the A and S models you may know. The RS model is a track-proven, high performance car for street use with a performance-oriented design, quicker acceleration, faster braking and better cornering.

The high performance brake system was impressive and Audi offers optional carbon ceramic brakes for $3,000, which is an expensive upgrade.

The major differences from the look of the standard models are the matte larger grill with larger air intakes, wider body, signature oval exhaust (sport with black tip) and active spoiler.

Inside the car was a flat-bottomed RS steering wheel, Alcantera leather RS seats and trendy style door handles.

Only 1,500 of the 2013 Audi RS 5’s will find their way to U.S. shores, so if you want power, handling, style, hi-tech goodies and exclusivity, this may be your car.

Competes with:
·Cadillac CTS-V coupe
·Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
·Nissan GT-R
·Chevrolet Corvette Z06
·BMW M3 coupe
·Jaguar XKR coupe

Likes:
·Impressive engine acoustics
·Awesome looking car
·Exhaust sounds aggressive
·Easy to use high-tech multi-media interface with voice commands
·Audi connect with Google earth

Dislikes:
·No air cooled seats
·Lack of a manual transmission

The 2013 Audi RS5 was very easy to drive and offers an aggressively tuned suspension to help it steer and handle with precision and use power wisely.
