My husband looking on with the beer in his hand while my nephew repairs the breaks
On the trip north to Elkhorn. This time looking a bit like the Beverly Hillbillys, the breaks on our truck seized. Thank God we were only 15 miles from my sister's place. She was out celebrating her 33rd wedding anniversary. My nephew helped repair the breaks as I called to relinquish our booth space at the Elkhorn flea.  Oh well. anyone see something in the truck you can't live without? It is still for sale!  Thank God for nephews who are young, love repairing cars, and have not yet gone out to party for the night...And for husbands who know to douse the breaks (and thought to bring the water jug) when you are traveling far from home!
our little camper disconnected and ready for the trip.
We ended up connecting with my sister and brother-in-law for a nice evening, I browsed her garden,  left the flowers I had purchased for the flea market in a vase on her kitchen table...a collection of Red, White and Blue... and then we went for pizza and even stopped by a carnival to take some colorful photos of the nighttime lights.  They shared their 33rd anniversary with us and that must have been what God was intending for us to do in the first place!

. we were packed and ready to go friday night. husband came home from work at 11 am. could not find the keys to the truck until 1 pm. had to stop to visit his dad at the hospital. back on the road, needing to stop for flowers and supplies... now 5pm. breaks went out, sheriff and fire battalion Chief came to help. repair shops all closed for the weekend. quick thinking to call my nephew. we picked up water to douse on the tire for the trip to my nephews, stopping every 5 miles along the way . Tony was so distraught he left his beer on the Walmart counter... concentrating instead on the little plastic watering can and gallon jugs of water for the hot breaks ( i usually have a crazy galvanized funnel in the display... not this time!). called the flea market organizer who said she was just about to let our spot go. ( 6pm).  was able to find an open Autozone to pick up parts needed for the repair.  limped the truck to my sisters house.  nephew saved the day!.  toured my sisters garden and put the flowers I had purchased in a vase with a "happy anniversary" note on her table.  left their home and was on the way to our home,  a few miles away, they called and we met them for pizza and to look at my other nephews "dream home" on the river... he has been trying to work with the bank on now for months..  dinner and pizza, touring Wauconda, IL for Wauconda fest.  .  finally getting home and able to sleep in well into the morning!       Ah! Priceless!

What is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?

To contact us Click HERE
We are flying from San Diego to Australia and we are not sure if we should use a car seat or let my wiggly three year old sit with an airline harness on the seat. Our concerns are that we want her to be able to use the tray and the last car seat we used was too high for this. We also want it to be the safest way and an easy way for her to nap. Does anyone have any suggestions of the best way to travel with toddlers? Thanks so much! What is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?Use the car seat. it is much safer for your child than her sitting in the seat by herself. You cannot use a traditional booster seat. They are not FAA approved. In the event of an accident the car seat is MUCH safer!!...PLEASE use the car seat! What is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?
One word: NANNYWhat is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?carseat. it is safer, more comfrotable for her, and will probably give her a napping position she is used to. i would also suggest bringing some books, music or blankets that she is used to sleeping with or using before. Try a booster chair. or when it is time to use thee tray let the kid sit on her knees. When napping let her curl up between the both of you. What is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?my friend has two toddlers and on her trips to Hawaii she puts them in their OWN carseats - her girls seem to feel a little safer b/c they are familiar with it.What is the best way to travel with a three year old on a 14 hour flight?
I would strongly recommend a car seat.

To use a car seat on board it should be less then 45inches in height and it needs to have a sticker on it that says "approved for airline travel" most car seats do - but just double check.

My Friend recently switched employer and is on H1-B. The H1 transfer is currently in pending mode with USCIS as they need additional documents. He needs to travel to his home country due to emergency. Is there a way this person can travel to India and still retain the H1 status.

From the limited knowledge I have, I believe the H1 transfer needs to be completed after which the I-797 papers will be handed and these papers are required to come back to US.

Thanks for your inputs. Can someone travel to home country while the H1 transfer from company A to B is in process ?you need to go here and ask them for correct answer.

Looking to travel in the near future.

I want to backpack, so i won't need luxury hotels.

bungalows will do. I am not picky on my food either.

I am looking to explore the Buddhist temples, maybe go to visit an island.

And discover more about Asian culture first hand.

Also, if anyone has any tips please feel free to give them.

Thanks. What are the cheapest places to travel in the Asian Pacific? The cheapest places are Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia and Laos.

The most hard-core Theravada Buddhist is Myanmar.

    So, Myanmar is your destination.

    Cheap %26amp; safe %26amp; exotic.

    Lots of temples and monasteries.

DIY %26amp; backpacking possible and relatively easy.

Also in Laos, but no temples, just monasteries (Theravada).

DIY %26amp; backpacking is possible and easy.

Cambodia is interesting for their ancient Angkorian temples,

initially Hindu and then Mahayana Buddhist.

Modern monasteries are Theravada, and I would say that Cambodian Buddhism is kind of been diluted by Pol Pot killing all the monks in 1970-s. They started the religion anew and there is no deep-root tradition there.

DIY and backpacking is possible and extremely easy. What are the cheapest places to travel in the Asian Pacific?i would suggest you to come to malaysia. it is such a great country. you can decide either want to go to the Buddhist temples or visit an island or even both! we have so many great things which equally shown us as truly asian because malaysian are made from Malays, Chinese and Indians.

besides, you may not have problem with the food but we have different types of food because of the three different races and you have to try all of them. most popular for us here might be roti canai and nasi lemak.

there are so many facilities for backpackers and it was so cheap. nowadays, we are realize about their need which is not only must be cheap but also comfortable.

therefore, for a magnificent holiday for scuba diving, hiking or cultural visit, do feel free to visit Malaysia.

THE CAR COACH REPORTS: WEEK IN REVIEW 6-15-12
THE PONY WARS RAGE ON EDITION

It’s been a slow news week in the automotive world.  Saab is potentially still alive, GM is changing up its pension program to shed more bloat, and Fiat is boosting its stake in Chrysler.  What else is new?  It’s like the needle is skipping on the turntable of the auto industry!
However, a “news” piece from Edmunds.com via AutoBlog caught my eye on Wednesday: http://www.autoblog.com/2012/06/13/camaro-zl1-goes-head-to-head-with-shelby-gt500-in-1-242-horsepow/#continued
A head-to-head comparison with the new Camaro ZL1 and the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500?  Yes please!
As expected, the Shelby out accelerated the ZL1 but not by much.  And surprisingly, the heavier, less-powerful ZLI handled better on the slalom and skid pad.  Perhaps this is attributed to the Shelby’s antiquated rear solid axle but one would think that with all the advanced technology Ford’s muscle car has packed into it, plus the fact that it weighs much less than the Camaro, that it would be able to keep up with its Bowtie brethren.
What good is all that power in the Shelby if it can’t perform in the twisties?  I’m not saying the Shelby is a slouch when it comes to handling, but I expected more from this car, especially with the ridiculous amount of power under the hood (and I mean that in a good way).
So while it appears that Ford rained on Chevy’s parade when it announced the 2013 Shelby GT500, Chevy is sprinkling a bit of ha-ha precipitation right back on Ford with its better-handling Camaro ZL1.
Now where’s Chrysler in all of this?  Their best offering is the Challenger SRT8, with a measly 470 hp.  I say this in jest because 470 hp is nothing to sneeze at.  It will be interesting to see what the SRT guys have in store for next year.
The American Pony wars are alive and well.

The Car Coach: Car break downs

By: Lauren Fix, The Car Coach More Americans are driving instead of flying on their family vacations, new drivers are hitting the highways on college road trips, and road construction season is upon us. Along with the joys of owning a car come the concerns of a possible breakdown. How will you perform in the face of adversity? Lauren Fix, the Car Coach, has some helpful tips. Things To Remember When Your Car Breaks Down:
    1. First things first: get your car off the road. Even when things go seriously wrong, moving vehicles usually have enough momentum to get your car to the side of the road. Turn on your hazard lights. When you reach the side of the road, put the car in park and engage the emergency brake. 2. Call for help. If the problem is serious, a roadside assistance program is a great help. Many manufacturers offer free road service when you buy your new auto. To see if you’re eligible, check your owner’s manual. 3. Let other drivers know that you're in trouble. Hazard lights are a start, but they don't necessarily shout to the world that you're having car problems. If you can get out of the car safely and if you have road flares or LED light sources available, place a couple of them about 50 feet behind your car. 4. Stay with the car. If you've called AAA or another roadside service, they typically can't do anything to a vehicle without the driver present. In addition, roadways are dangerous places for people on foot -- in fact, about 4,000 pedestrians are killed each year in the U.S. The situation is far more deadly when cars are flying by at 60 or 70 miles per hour. 5. If you don’t know about auto repair - wait for the pros. If you've got some tinkering experience, you might be able to identify a loose battery cable, but if your problem is a flat tire and you've never changed one before, leave it to the professionals. Changing tires can be tricky, even under ideal conditions -- and frankly, perched on the shoulder of a highway isn't what we'd call "ideal." If you do know how to change a tire, proceed with caution. 6. Use common sense. Every breakdown is different, depending on where you are, what you're driving, the time of day, the underlying problem, and so on. Don't exit the car on the same side that traffic is flowing. Exercise caution and stay in the car with your seatbelt fastened for your safety. 7. Be wary of strangers. Your parents probably told you that a thousand times when you were young, but it bears repeating. There are plenty of good Samaritans out there, eager to help folks in trouble. However, there are also a handful of bad eggs that can really spell trouble. If a stranger pulls over and offers help, it's probably best to remain in the car with the doors locked. Roll down the window a bit and tell them that help is on the way. Call the police if need be.

GOVERNUS ABSURDUM EDITION - Cellulosic Ethanol

THE CAR COACH REPORTS: WEEK IN REVIEW 6-22-12
    GOVERNUS ABSURDUM EDITION
A leprechaun, Darth Vader and cellulosic ethanol walk into a bar.  The bartender turns to them and sees nothing there.  Why?  Because they’re all fictional!
Our government, in its infinite wisdom, is now mandating that oil refiners utilize cellulosic ethanol or pay fines.   The problem?  Cellulosic ethanol doesn’t exist.  It never has.  Back in 2005, the EPA thought that it would eventually go into production and that refineries would have access to it by now.  It hasn’t.  Not a single ounce of the fairy dust has been produced:
    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/06/21/regulation-requires-oil-refiners-use-millions-gallons-fuel-that-is-nonexistent/
Yet the EPA has turned its back on refiners and is issuing fines.  Sure, they lowered the original amount of cellulosic ethanol that refineries must incorporate into their oil but that’s akin to the FDA telling Pepsi they can add less schlopnine to their soda to prevent obesity.  What’s schlopnine?  I don’t know.  It doesn’t exist either—I made it up.
Honestly, what has happened to this country?  When did our government become such a huge, out-of-control bureaucracy that its employees would rather turn a blind eye to an issue that is costing taxpayers millions (because the refiners had to sue the EPA) rather than simply amend or strike down the mandate?
I don’t know what the amendment process would entail within the EPA but I would think that a basic analysis of the situation and few signatures would be all it would take.  Wait a minute; this is our government we’re talking about.
Come to think of it, it probably would require the hiring of an outside contractor to present a 700-page report before congress detailing the lack of cellulosic ethanol producers in the U.S., how China would be affected, the importance of the Coriolis effect on backyard swimming pools, whether or not cows in central Brazil could still sleep standing up, a more efficient method for shipping live chickens via tractor trailers, and the average air speed velocity of an Unladen European Swallow.
It would only cost taxpayers $120 million for this report since the contractor would likely charge $171,000 per sheet of paper and the government would pay for it because the head of the EPA’s husband is said contractor.
Okay, so maybe I went a bit overboard here but you get the point.  Either our government is fining the refiners because they can, or they’re unwilling to remove a mandate that is beyond ludicrous simply because it literally would take an act of congress.  Either way, it’s unacceptable.
    What are your thoughts?
    Post your comments at  http://laurenfix.blogspot.com/
    My Final Thought
Normally, I’m pro-business no matter the size.  They provide jobs, help the economy, provide health benefits, etc.  But once in a while I read about a company that has become too big for its britches, just like our federal government.  Today, that company is B of A:
    http://jalopnik.com/5920334/bank-of-america-has-something-to-do-with-this-muscle-cars-disappearance
What are they thinking?  Or are they thinking at all?  Give the man his car back for crying out loud!!!

Myself husband and daughter are flying into bangkok and then want to go down to koh phi phi and i understand the best way to do this is via Phuket. I would like to get peoples opinions on the most cost effective way to travel (other than flying!) and how long it would take and cost? What is the best way to travel to phuket from Bangkok without flying?Chinlak doesn't know what they're talking about, Hat Yai is farther south than Phuket. By bus is the best option, your better off going to the New Southern Bus Terminal to buy your ticket instead, cause you will rarely get through if you call.

Total travel time is about 10-12 hrs with a 20 min break for food. Last time I took the bus about 3 months ago it cost 1200 baht for a VIP 24 which is the most comfortable one.

You could also take a train which would mean you need to switch to bus in Surat Thani, but train service to the south is limited now and it also takes longer. What is the best way to travel to phuket from Bangkok without flying?
How to get to Phuket from Bangkok

    By air (1.20 hrs)

Domestic airlines operate several flights daily between Bangkok and Phuket. Some flights go to Phuket via Samui Island with a 40-minute stopover. Check with your travel agent for more details.

    By bus (about 12 hrs)

Air-conditioned and non air-con buses leave Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal for Phuket several times daily. The trip by air-con bus, normally leaving in the evening, takes about 12 hours.

For further details, call the Southern Bus Terminal, 0 2894 6122

    By car (about 12 hrs)

From Bangkok, take Highway No.4 (Phetchakasem Road) through Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani and Phang-nga, then cross the Thep Krasattri Bridge or Sarasin Bridge to Phuket Island. The total distance is 862 kilometres.

    By rail

There is no direct train service to Phuket. Travelers by train must get off at Phun Phin railway station in Surat Thani and continue by regular bus to Phuket.

    For details, call the State Railway of Thailand, 1690, 0 2223 7010, 0 2220 4444 (RSVN), 0 2220 4334, 0 2621 8701.

What is the best way to travel to phuket from Bangkok without flying?Since you don't intend to fly, the cheapest way is to go south by coach. Go to the Southern Route Bus Terminal and book your seats to the southern most city, Haadyai. Upon arrival at the location, enquire from the information counter for your onward journey to Phuket.

For a comfortable ride, which will takes about 10 to 12 hours, book a VIP Class coach.

I'm looking to book a vacation to Hawaii for my honeymoon next June and would like to split my time between Oahu and Maui. What is the best way to travel between Islands? Has anyone had any personal experience with these islands? What is the best way to travel between islands in Hawaii?Any one of four inter island air carriers: Aloha Air, Hawaiian Air, Go Air, or Island Air. However, this just in from Pacific Business News:

The interisland airline Go! reposted its $29 one-way fares last week and announced over the weekend it was extending the offer through Monday night.

Phoenix-based Mesa Air Group Inc. (Nasdaq: MESA), operator of go!, said it was extending the offer "just for the heck of it."

The initial offer, which was matched by Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines, was for selected seats on selected flights with several blackout periods around the holidays of November and December.

"Once again we've received an amazing response to our fare sale," said Joe Bock, chief marketing officer for go!

Last week Mesa Air Group reported that go!'s load factor had fallen to about three quarters full in August.

Interisland air capacity is up significantly -- more than 10 percent -- from the same time last year, due to three factors: (1) a substantial expansion of Island Air, whose smaller aircraft now fly more routes than either Hawaiian or Aloha as they serve routes most of which are not served by the larger carriers; (2) the launch of go! with frequent service between Honolulu and the four major interisland destinations of Lihue, Kahului, Kona and Hilo; and (3) an expansion of Hawaiian and Aloha service to those same destinations in an effort to prevent go! from wresting market share from the legacy carriers.

Personal suggestion for time allotment: I recommend a 50/50 split between Maui and O'ahu. Just remember: summer is peak season; lotsa tourists, lotsa little kids, lotsa college kids, lotsa traffic... but also lotsa fun...What is the best way to travel between islands in Hawaii?

    HELICOPTER!!

Believe the hype. With a helicopter, you can see more of the smaller islands than you could ever hope to on the ground...and it's VERY romantic. Especially if you spot some place on the ground that you'd like to go see, and then after the ride, go visit it.

My wife and I have done this three times, and it never fails to stir up the romance.

One way is to take a cruise, discount inside cabin, 7 days $650. This includes food and room, but not liquor. Otherwise, the cheapest airfare is $39 1-way, then hotel room, maybe $100 and rental car. The cruise is a bargain when you add these factors. The waters are fairly calm in June.

Lufthansa(for international) allows animals to travel by themselves, as long as they have the proper documents (contact the import and customs department in your country). There are also pet shipping companies out there who will take care of all of that for you. It may depend on where she is sending it to you from, but you can do a google search for them as well. i heard you could travel 3rd class on the train i dont mind that but any tips suggestions? What is the cheapest way to travel to finland from wales?Flight is your best option. I don't see any non-stop, low-cost air service between Wales and Finland. However, you could put 2 tickets together--via Dublin, for example--with Aer Lingus or Aer Arann, switching to Ryanair onward to Helsinki or Tampere. Just allow plenty of time between flights in case of delays. What is the cheapest way to travel to finland from wales?I don't think you can get there by train - as you have to cross water. Even if you took a ferry from Finland to the European mainland, you would then have to travel all the way to the west coast of France and take the train underneath the water to England and then travel all the way to Wales from there. It only makes sense to fly between Finland and Wales

All my life I have wanted to travel to different countries but I nor my family have ever had the means. Now that I am about to transfer to a university I feel that it is time for me to narrow my degree plan. With this in mind, I've been going through all of the options that I can think of that will allow me to travel as part of my job description or at least give me opportunities. If anyone has any opinions on this it would be most appreciated. Thanks! What are some job options that allow you to travel all around the world?peace corps

  • How to travel on a tight budget?

    To contact us Click HERE
So, my boyfriend and I are kind of in a rut. We've been together for a while, and share an apartment, but life is just generally boring. All we do is work so we can afford the bills, and after that we're usually to worn out to do anything. The one thing that we both want really badly is to travel. Just like, move all our stuff back home, and go out and travel around the country. But how can we do that on a very limited budget?

Any input/advice would be appreciated. Thanks! How to travel on a tight budget?Well, one way you can save money while traveling is staying in hostels, and taking cheap flights especially around Europe with airlines like RyanAir or buy a cheap Eurail pass to take the train around.

You can also easily live in south-east asia on a budget, I know when I did it was cheaper than rent in Canada.

Have fun and be creative! How to travel on a tight budget?Well, I am not entirely sure what you mean about travel around the country. If you are relating that you would like to just take a week vacation once a year that seems achievable. If you mean that you want to give up your apartment and store your things and just roam around the country; that's another story. You said in your question that all you do is work to pay bills. So even if you alleviated a great share of your bills your jobs would have to be mobile to afford traveling.

I can teach you how to discount travel, but traveling can still be quite pricey even at 50% off.

My wife and I are from Michigan. We are probably in the below average category for income in our state. (Which isn't saying much since we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country). However, we still take a vacation every year. Usually fly and stay in mini suites or condos. Visit amusement parks etc.

The bottom line is...if you have the desire to travel and see your country. I can attest that there are several ways to do it for far less than the average travelocity or expedia purchaser. I am not going to put the info out on the public answer site. But, for whatever reason, if you would like to email me at mark@enterprisetourandtravel.com I can share with you some ways to get some significantly reduced travel. This is not a sales pitch. I will genuinely share with you some of the ways my wife and I afford our travels. How to travel on a tight budget? You can! There are so many ways to do this. I just had an article published about volunteering and travel- you work just a few hours a day 4-5 days a week and your room and board is paid for:
